What is the difference between converted infrared cameras and normal cameras + infrared filters in front of the lens ?

There are 2 factors :

1. Shutter speed in converted cameras is normal, speed in normal unconverted cameras is very low ( you need tripod to shoot ).
2. Viewfinder in converted cameras is normal, viewfinder in normal unconverted cameras is very dark ( you can’t view it through your viewfinder ).
